Today at KOMTAR, the team behind the IAA World Congress, together with the Penang state government as their partner, shared their excitement and readiness to host the prestigious 45th International Advertising Association (IAA) World Congress from March 6-8, 2024. They are expecting to welcome approximately 1000 participants from around the world, which is anticipated to generate an economic boon of RM5.836 million for Penang.
John D Chacko, the President of IAA Malaysia, Vice President of IAA Global, and Chairman of the World Congress, announced, “As hosts of the landmark 45th IAA World Congress, the first event of its magnitude in South East Asia, IAA Malaysia and the Penang state government are proud to celebrate this historic occasion. Themed ‘Brand: RE-CODE, for a Better World, Better Life,’ the congress will not only be a gathering of thought leadership but also a celebration of IAA Global’s 85th Anniversary, IAA Malaysia’s 30th Anniversary, and International Women’s Day.”

It presents an excellent opportunity for Penang to showcase its investment potential and attract a variety of investments, aiming to bolster our economy with innovation, job creation, and sustainable development,” stated The Right Honourable Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang.
Featuring over 30 C-suite executives as speakers, the Congress promises insightful mainstage sessions and panel discussions on current topics in marketing, AI, and technology. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of keeping up with global trends, especially in the face of rapid transformations and the growing impact of AI.
The Honourable Wong Hon Wai, the State Exco for Tourism & Creative Economy, remarked, “The IAA World Congress not only enhances our reputation as a premier destination for business events but also promotes knowledge sharing, networking, and collaborations that significantly contribute to our economic prosperity. This event firmly positions Penang as a central figure in the global tourism and creative sectors.”
The Congress is recognized under the HRD Corp claimable category, making attendance easier for delegates through direct debiting from their company’s levy account. Malaysian participants are also eligible for daily allowances, and reimbursement for flights, accommodation, and land transportation.
Furthermore, the IAA World Congress has announced partnerships with leading global companies such as Petal Ads by Huawei, Google, Meta, WARC, ANA, Lions, SEEHER, BBC News, Media Prima, Celcomdigi, and iFlytek. These collaborations aim to enhance the congress’s visibility and secure widespread media coverage.
