At this year’s Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME), the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) is set to make a big impact, showcasing the city’s top partners for event planners to collaborate with and achieve great results.

Attendees can engage with MCB and 11 leading industry suppliers, learning why Melbourne is renowned for meetings, incentives, and conventions, while also experiencing the cultural richness and innovations of Melbourne’s contemporary Indigenous business event suppliers.

MCB Chief Officer Julia Swanson is excited about the bureau’s sector leadership, focusing on evolving their business events to attract and meet the needs of the next generation of buyers and planners with inclusive and socially impactful offerings.

“In 2023 we initiated collaborations with talented First Peoples owned and led businesses to enhance our stand’s offerings, including activations and a Yarning Area on the second storey of the stand,” said Ms. Swanson.

This year, the Melbourne, Victoria stand will feature a variety of native fusion desserts and gin tastings, presented by Pawa Catering & Events and Taka Gin Co. Visitors can also enjoy traditional shield wood burning demonstrations by renowned fine artist Uncle Mick Harding of Ngarga Warendj.

“There will be a skilful Welcome to Country Yidaki performance by Kiernan Ironfield to commence the trade show, couverture chocolate tastings using native flavours by Indigenous and family-owned business Loco for Cocoa, even a mini wellness workshop by Aboriginal facilitator Lee Couch, who runs fantastic team building experiences for business events,” added Ms. Swanson.

On the ground floor of the stand, hosted buyers and visitors can engage in discussions with leading suppliers of the destination about their upcoming events.

The Melbourne, Victoria stand will include well-known organizations such as the Melbourne Convention Bureau; Showtime Event Group; Saxton Speakers Bureau; Grazeland; Victoria Pavilion; Melbourne Showgrounds; Pullman Melbourne on the Park; Restaurant Associates, representing Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo; Chadstone, the Fashion Capital; Hotel Chadstone Melbourne M Gallery; Business Events Victoria; Mercure Melbourne Doncaster; Novotel Melbourne on Collins; and Novotel Melbourne Preston.

The Melbourne, Victoria stand will be a standout at AIME 2024, located prominently in the Victoria Precinct with the largest area on the trade show floor. The two-story structure, adorned with vibrant Indigenous artwork, will be a central attraction.

MCB worked with Indigenous-owned creative agency Little Rocket to create the stand’s artwork cladding, complemented by exquisite native botanical arrangements from Indigenous Melbourne florist Alchemy Orange.

Additionally, the Yarning Area on the second floor offers complimentary barista coffee all day, along with comfortable seating arrangements including armchairs, tables, and bar stools, providing attendees with a relaxing vantage point to observe AIME.
