During the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME), the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) signed a crucial agreement to strengthen their alliance. This partnership aims to tackle three key challenges in the Australian business events sector through a shared commitment.

The AIME 2024 catwalk featured a vibrant display of Indigenous Australian culture, representing 65,000 years of history and a vision of unity. On the exhibition’s second day, February 20, a collaboration between the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and Northern Territory Business Events presented designs from Indigenous art centers in the Northern Territory. Indigenous peoples use art as a storytelling medium, sharing knowledge, stories, and their deep connection to the land.

AIME 2024, held from February 19th to 21st at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, marks a notable return for B2B travel trade conferences post-COVID-19. With over 570 exhibitors—a 63% increase from last year—the event showcases a robust recovery and renewed industry enthusiasm.

Bringing together 600 buyers and 3,500 visitors, AIME 2024 features destinations like Fiji, India, Korea, and Sri Lanka. The event focuses on networking, learning, and business opportunities, serving as a vital platform for the global travel and tourism sectors to reconnect and explore new potentials.

The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) has unveiled its inaugural First Peoples Engagement Guide, aimed at assisting event organizers in creating business events that provide cultural immersion and drive positive social outcomes.

This guide, tailored for the business events sector, offers practical advice, including tips on organizing a Welcome to Country or Acknowledgement of Country, a comprehensive list of Indigenous Business Events Suppliers, and strategies for effectively implementing the guide’s recommendations.
