ITB China has revealed details about the upcoming ITB China Conference 2024, in partnership with TravelDaily, a prominent conference organizer in the Chinese travel sector. This three-day exclusive B2B event will focus on key areas within China’s travel industry, providing valuable insights for businesses. The conference will cover themes such as “China Outbound Travel,” “MICE,” “Business Travel,” “Travel Technology,” and, new this year, “China Inbound Travel.” Attendees can expect keynote speeches, industry dialogues, executive interviews, and panel discussions with experts from around the world and within China, across two main stages: the “Conference Room” and the “Presentation Hub.”

Key topics on the agenda include insights into China’s outbound travel data by Trip.com, discussions on enhancing outbound travel through industry collaboration, using new media to attract young travelers, and exploring adventure travel and sustainable development.

“Travel Technology” will be highlighted for its role in enhancing efficiency, convenience, and personalization in the global travel sector. Sessions will explore questions like “How can new technologies enrich personalized travel experiences?” and “How do online payments boost order conversions for travel platforms?” shedding light on how technology facilitates seamless bookings, interactive experiences, real-time information access, and sustainable practices.

Partnerships with organizations such as the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), the China Business Event Industry Committee (CBEIC), and the Purchasing and Supply Chain Coalition will enrich discussions on “Business Travel” and “MICE.” Collaborating with CBEIC, a panel will explore overseas expansion strategies and global development of Chinese associations, while the Purchasing and Supply Chain Coalition will host a session on “Enterprise Procurement Strategies for Corporate Travel, Conferences, and Incentive Travel.” SITE will facilitate a roundtable on the current and future landscape of the global and Asian MICE tourism industry.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Nitin Sachdeva, President-elect of SITE Global, stated: “The global MICE industry has experienced rapid development and transformation, with a continuously expanding market size, but faced also many challenges. We now look forward to persistent innovation in the industry, improving service quality, and achieving sustainable development in the future. This year’s conference program marks a significant milestone with the introduction of sessions focusing on “China Inbound Travel,” addressing recent shifts in visa policies and their impact on the recovery of inbound travel. Mr. Dave Goodger, Managing Director EMEA of Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics Company, will kick off the sessions with a keynote titled “Opportunities for Chinese Inbound Growth to Keep Pace with Outbound and Domestic.” This keynote will explore the resurgence of tourism in post-pandemic China, covering aspects such as inbound growth, international projections, key markets, risks, and providing insights into domestic and outbound tourism, including prominent city destinations.

Expressing anticipation for ITB China, Dave Goodger from Oxford Economics highlighted the significance of participating in such events for sharing insights on inbound tourism outlooks. He remarked, “We have always valued our participation at ITB events… as vital opportunities to connect with industry stakeholders and network with new potential partners.”

The recent relaxation of visa policies has injected vitality into China’s inbound travel market. Additional discussions and panel sessions on this topic include: “Visa-free Policy Opens Opportunities and Challenges for Inbound Travel Recovery” and “Discussion on China’s Major Source Markets for Inbound Travel.” These sessions will provide detailed analyses of changes in spending habits and destination preferences among Chinese travelers.
