Tourism Ireland in Spain unveiled the enchanting details of Belfast’s 2024 cultural program at a Barcelona event. The gathering attracted 35 prominent Spanish travel professionals and journalists.

Representatives from three Belfast-based tourism companies—Belfast Millie Tours, Titanic Distillers, and Visit Belfast—collaborated with Tourism Ireland for the event. Attendees enjoyed the musical talents of Belfast-born singer-songwriter Winnie Ama and received updates on exciting new tourism offerings in the city.

Belfast 2024 promises a culturally rich year, capitalizing on the city’s UNESCO City of Music status and its esteemed literary heritage. This initiative provides Tourism Ireland with an exciting opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland to Spanish travelers seeking immersive cultural experiences. The event also highlighted Northern Ireland’s accessibility from this region of Spain, with convenient direct flights operated by easyJet from Barcelona to Belfast.

Susan Bolger, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Spain, said: “We were delighted to unveil some of the highlights of Belfast 2024 at our event in Barcelona to our important Spanish travel professionals and journalists. Our aim is to inspire Spanish holidaymakers to put Belfast and Northern Ireland on their holiday ‘wish-list’ for this year, to come and discover more about our culture. The event was also an excellent opportunity to highlight ease of access from this part of Spain, with direct flights from Barcelona to Belfast.”

The Tourism Ireland gathering in Barcelona highlighted several Belfast 2024 events, including:

  1. Midsummer at the Lyric: An innovative outdoor theater production reimagining a classic Shakespeare play.
  2. Water Works: An ambitious project aiming to launch 10,000 boats on the River Lagan, celebrating Belfast’s rich maritime history.
  3. Shadowdock: An immersive exhibition of light, shadow, color, and sound set in the historic dock where the Titanic was famously launched.
  4. A Century of Stories with the Ulster Orchestra: A tribute to Belfast’s vibrant music scene and its prestigious UNESCO City of Music designation.
