Taipei stands out as a premier destination for meetings and conferences in the Asia Pacific, boasting exceptional event infrastructure. Beyond its well-equipped facilities, Taipei attracts MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events and participants with its close proximity to scenic landscapes, diverse cultural experiences, and upscale lifestyle offerings.

In 2023, Taipei has been chosen as the host destination for more than 160 conferences, exhibitions, and incentive travel groups, highlighting the city’s growing prominence in the MICE sector. This success is attributed to the efforts of the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government, in establishing Taipei as the preferred MICE destination in the Asia Pacific. With a staggering 40,000 accommodation rooms citywide, organizers have an extensive array of options for meetings and events.

In addition to conventional venues like the Taipei International Convention Center, Taipei World Trade Center, and Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taipei offers unconventional spaces reflecting its rich history and heritage. Notable examples include The Grand Hotel, housed in one of the world’s tallest Chinese classical buildings, and the acclaimed Taipei Performing Arts Center, recognized by Time Magazine as one of the world’s top 100 attractions in 2021.

Event organizers may benefit from the Department’s support scheme, which offers eligible applicants up to NT$2 million for staging international MICE events in Taipei. The city’s inclusive atmosphere is evident in its recognition as the “Most Promising Muslim-Friendly City Destination of the Year (Non-Organization of Islamic Cooperation)” by Crescent Rating in 2023. Taipei boasts over 60 Muslim-friendly accommodations and restaurants, along with more than 30 attractions and public places featuring prayer rooms or purification facilities.

Taipei’s event calendar is diverse, featuring internationally renowned events such as Taipei Cycle, Computex Taipei, the IDA International Dragon Award, and the World Masters Games. The city is also known for cultural celebrations like the Pride March and annual festivals, including the New Year’s Eve countdown, Yang Ming Shan Flower Festival, Da Dao Cheng Summer Festival, and the Taiwan Lantern Festival.

Ranked 3rd in the 2022 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranking for the Asia Pacific region and 25th globally, Taipei is recognized for its safety, securing the 4th position in Numbeo’s safety index for 2023. The Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government, will showcase these offerings at ITB Asia from October 25 to 27, 2023, at booth D23, featuring partners such as Courtyard by Marriott, Dragon Tours, and Altopia.
