Siam Paragon & KASIKORNBANK

Siam Paragon, known globally as a premier shopping destination, is teaming up with KASIKORNBANK to present the “Siam Paragon Ultrasonic Water Festival 2024, Songkran Lobster Wonderland” curated by Philip Colbert. Colbert, renowned for his vibrant pop art, is bringing his first exhibition to Bangkok, offering a special celebration for the Thai New Year at Siam Paragon.

The festival, happening from April 9 to 16, 2024, at Parc Paragon, will showcase Colbert’s famous art installations, marking his debut showcase in Thailand. Often referred to as the ‘Godson of Andy Warhol,’ the artist will exhibit his works, including the playful giant red sculpture “The Lobster,” until June 2024.

Thanaporn Tantiyanon, Head of Business Unit, Siam Paragon, said “Siam Paragon is committed to deliver unparalleled experiences. Siam Paragon, is a ‘global destination’ and one of the top-of-mind landmark that attracts over 150,000 to 200,000 locals and tourists a day. This Thai New Year, we highlight the exclusive collaboration of Siam Paragon and world’s prominent Pop artist Philip Colbert. The iconic British artist is globally-recognized for his inventive Pop Art creations as well as his eclectic signature style and the use of vibrant colors. His iconic character – the playful giant red “The Lobster,” has been showcased in worldwide ranging from paintings and sculptures to fashion merchandises. He has been recognized as an iconic figure in the global pop art scene. And we are thrilled to work with him on this project.”

Colbert’s creations for this event are inspired by Thailand’s lively Songkran water festival, featuring life-size lobsters engaging in traditional Thai activities like riding elephants and wielding water pistols. The event offers more attractions such as a concert series featuring over a hundred renowned artists, cultural displays including ancient Buddha statues from the National Museum Bangkok, and workshops on traditional Thai arts. There’s also a Songkran photo exhibition and performances by top contemporary Morlam bands.

Colbert has unveiled a new collection of dynamic and colorful artworks exclusively for Siam Paragon, inspired by Thailand’s vibrant Songkran water festival. This hyper-pop display includes life-sized lobsters with a Thai twist, depicting them riding elephants, wielding water pistols, and even giant inflatable lobsters dressed in octopus costumes, alongside a massive red lobster in a lifebuoy.
