Prestigious Accolades for Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre: Recognized for Venue, Sustainability, and Culinary Excellence!

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (The Centre) is Malaysia’s premier purpose-built events venue and it has recently received prestigious awards, including the title of Best Convention & Exhibition Centre at the Travel Trade Gazette’s (TTG) Travel Awards 2023.

Since 1989, the TTG Travel Awards have honored the top performers in the Asia-Pacific
travel sector. The winners, including The Centre, are selected through votes from seasoned
travel industry professionals and experts. At the awards ceremony held on October 6th at
Thailand’s Centara Hotel, the prize was personally presented to the Center’s General
Manager, Mr. John Burke.

Additionally, The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre also received the Malaysia Partner
Experience of the Year – Exhibition Centre award from the Asian Experience Awards 2023.
The Kuala Lumpur City Centre SDG precinct initiative is an ongoing project aimed at
making the KLCC precinct the first SDG-compliant hub in Malaysia.

The famed Culinaire Malaysia chefs’ competition, which was held at the Centre as part of the
17th edition of the Food & Hotel Malaysia (FHM) exhibition in late September, also
acknowledged the Centre’s culinary prowess. The chefs from the Center showcased their
abilities and came away with four gold, six silver, and six bronze medals. Competing against
some of Malaysia’s top chefs, the Centre’s team also won the Most Outstanding Chef and
Junior Chef categories, and they clinched the first runner-up in the Chef of the Nation
category.

John Burke, General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre expressed immense
pleasure and delight at the significant recognition garnered within a short period. He
acknowledged that these achievements stand as a testament to the dedication,
professionalism, and expertise of his team at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

He added, “We must stay on top of our game to retain our position as Malaysia’s premier
events destination and these awards help boost our morale and give our team an extra
bounce in their step as we strive for continual improvement and excellence.”
The Center also won the “Best Managed Sustainable Property” award and the “Editor’s
Choice Award-Malaysia’s Outstanding Specialized Development 2023″ at The Edge Best
Managed & Sustainable Property Awards (BMSPA) 2023 back in July.
