The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is set to host its 47th PATA Travel Mart 2024 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 27th to the 29th of August.
For over a quarter-century, since relocating its headquarters from San Francisco to Thailand in 1998, PATA has enjoyed the steadfast support of key Thai tourism entities such as the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, and the PATA Thailand Chapter. The upcoming event celebrates the long-standing partnership between PATA and Thailand’s tourism industry, as noted by PATA Chair, Peter Semone.
Noor Ahmad Hamid, CEO of PATA, emphasized the event’s strategic timing, highlighting the Asia Pacific’s tourism sector’s recovery and growth. The PATA Travel Mart will feature a blend of conferences, a business-to-business travel mart spanning two days, and over 10,000 business appointments, attracting participants from over 40 locations across six regions. It presents an invaluable opportunity for professionals to network, seek collaboration, and uncover new business ventures. Hamid pointed out Thailand’s appeal as an ideal venue for this gathering, especially in light of its nearly 30 million international visitors in 2023 and its visa exemption policy for tourists from over 60 countries.
Hamid also referenced a 2022 UFI report, noting Thailand’s top position in ASEAN and fourth in Asia in terms of exhibition space. Bangkok’s stature as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) hub, combined with its two international airports and extensive public transport network, underscores its suitability for hosting large-scale events.
The 47th PATA Travel Mart is poised to be a pivotal event for Asia Pacific travel and tourism professionals, offering unparalleled networking and business development opportunities. It aims to provide access to influential decision-makers, foster new client relationships, and enhance networking, partnership, and collaboration efforts.
The QSNCC, selected for its strategic location in Bangkok, has been updated with a modern, elegant design that reflects Thai culture and prioritizes sustainability. With direct access through the MRT’s QSNCC station and proximity to scenic areas like a nearby lake and Benjakitti Park, the venue promises a conducive environment for both business and leisure activities.
