The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) recently organized its first networking event of the year at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. The event brought together over 250 professionals from the business events sector, including members of MyCEB’s Industry Partner Programme (IPP) and others. It aimed to foster collaboration and explore growth opportunities within the industry. Attendees included venue managers, conference organizers, and exhibition organizers, who utilized the platform to network, share ideas, and establish goals for the upcoming year.

The event also marks the Bureau’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik’s first official gathering with local industry players. Reflecting on the significance of this gathering, Mr. Azman said, “Our networking session serves as a testament to MyCEB’s commitment to nurturing a vibrant and cohesive business events community in Malaysia. By bringing together industry stakeholders, we aim to facilitate meaningful exchanges and drive collective growth. It is my honour to host them for the first time in my capacity as the CEO of MyCEB and I thank them for their ongoing support”.

The event highlighted the critical role of such annual gatherings in establishing a unified direction and foundation for the industry. It offered a platform for members to express their needs and viewpoints, thereby obtaining a clearer understanding of the existing challenges and opportunities within the business events field. As MyCEB prepares for the debut of the MICE/Business Events (BE) Community in the coming year, it continues to focus on fortifying regional connections, driving economic advancement, and elevating the profile of the business events sector throughout Southeast Asia. This initiative took root following a visit to The Indonesian Exhibition Companies Association (IECA-ASPERAPI) and was further emphasized by a meeting with the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), exemplifying MyCEB’s commitment to propelling the Malaysian business events scene to new heights. Moreover, MyCEB encouraged non-IPP participants to join its longstanding program. Since its inception in 2011, the IPP has aimed to raise its members’ profiles within the lucrative international arena, offering a plethora of services and opportunities for business development, including joint sales and marketing initiatives, professional enhancement, networking, market insights, and visibility in MyCEB’s digital and printed materials. Currently, the IPP enjoys the support of over 212 members, with plans to expand its network further.

The networking event’s success mirrors MyCEB’s unwavering support for the advancement and growth of Malaysia’s business events industry. Through leading initiatives that foster strategic partnerships and innovation, Malaysia is well-positioned to host a diverse array of international events, thereby boosting the nation’s economy and affirming its status as a leading and sustainable destination for business events.
