Los Angeles proudly boasts as the city with the busiest port and the second busiest airport in America.

But, recently a journal ranked the Los Angeles Convention Center at a modest ranking of 21st in the United States.

This ranking is far from what the city deserves and is capable of.

Competing cities such as Las Vegas, Chicago, and San Diego, consistently outrank Los Angeles in convention center facilities.

Also, cities like Columbus, Louisville and Indianapolis that are not often considered in the same league as Los Angeles, have convention centers that far surpass the Los Angeles Convention Center in both size and quality. The convention center is in dire need of modernization.

The facility’s current limitations have prevented us from attracting large, high-value events. It’s too small, too old, and its exhibition space is disjointed.

The convention center stands as a stark contrast to the booming neighborhood surrounding LA Live.

The convention and events industry is a vital part of Los Angeles’ economy, supporting over 550,000 careers, and it’s time we give its due attention.

Construction cannot happen in the time during the 2028 Olympics because there are several events to take place at the Convention Center.

The expansion must be accolplished by 2027, for which the work should commence no later than 2024.
