Laura Wilson has been appointed as the new head of the convention bureau at VisitAberdeenshire in Scotland. She will be taking over the role from Millie Clarke, who will transition to the position of head of tourism development at VisitAberdeenshire following a reorganization within the organization.
Laura Wilson brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously worked at Speakeasy Productions in Edinburgh. Over the past year, the Aberdeen Convention Bureau has collaborated with various partners to submit 38 bids aimed at bringing conferences and events to the region. If successful, these bids are expected to contribute £19 million to the regional economy and generate over 79,000 bed nights.
Laura Wilson expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, stating that she is eager to promote the Aberdeen region as a premier conference destination. Chris Foy, CEO of VisitAberdeenshire, praised the appointment of Laura Wilson, highlighting her extensive experience in client-side and convention bureau roles. He noted that her appointment comes at an opportune moment as more associations recognize the potential of Aberdeen as a destination for conferences and events.
