Albania's tourism

Albania is set to highlight its impressive tourism attractions as the official host of ITB Berlin 2025, marking a new era of opportunities and global visibility. The announcement was made during a partnership agreement signing between Albania’s Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, and Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, emphasizing Albania’s growing importance in Mediterranean travel.

Minister Kumbaro’s enthusiasm for her homeland is infectious, as she describes Albania as a “hidden gem in the Mediterranean with a good tourism infrastructure.”

Albania is challenging stereotypes by presenting a mystical allure to travelers seeking new destinations and experiences. Its scenic landscapes of sea, mountains, rivers, and forests are just the beginning. The country’s true charm lies in the “Albanian spirit” and the legendary hospitality of its locals.

This hospitality is deeply rooted in Albanian culture, epitomized by the saying, “In Albania, the house belongs to the guest and God,” illustrating the royal treatment visitors can anticipate.

Albania boasts a diverse array of attractions, from its pristine beaches along the coastline to the rugged beauty of the Albanian Alps in the north. Despite its compact size, the country offers a seamless journey from sun-soaked shores to alpine trails within a few hours.

The recently established Wild River National Park, home to the Vjosa River, showcases Albania’s dedication to preserving its natural heritage. Meanwhile, the Albanian Alps captivate adventurers with untouched mountain villages and extensive hiking trails, providing an immersive glimpse into Albania’s tranquil landscapes and rich traditions.

Albania’s growing appeal is evident in the latest tourism figures, with 10.1 million international visitors welcomed last year. The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) noted that Albania experienced the third-highest global growth and the highest in Europe in the first half of 2023.

This year has already seen a 50% increase in international tourists compared to the same period last year, indicating Albania’s escalating allure as a tourism hotspot.

As Albania prepares to take center stage at ITB Berlin 2025, the country is gearing up to showcase its finest tourism offerings to the world. This prestigious platform will not only spotlight Albania’s diverse attractions but also reinforce its status as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking unique and enriching experiences.

With its blend of natural splendor, cultural depth, and unmatched hospitality, Albania is poised to captivate the global travel industry and visitors alike.
