In April 2023, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) introduced new initiatives in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB): the GSTC MICE Criteria and GSTC Attraction Criteria. These criteria, encompassing Venues, Event Organizers, and Events/Exhibitions, aim to establish global sustainability standards for their respective industries.
The first round of public consultation for the GSTC Attraction Criteria is now open until March 15, 2024 (60 days). Professionals in the attraction sector are invited to contribute insights during this phase. The criteria include four sections: A (Effective Sustainable Management), B (Social and Economic Benefits to the Local Community), C (Benefits to Cultural Heritage), and D (Benefits to the Environment).

Please share this invitation with individuals in tourism attractions, such as theme parks, museums, national parks, tour operators, and more.
Post-consultation, a thorough review and revision process will occur, with a feasibility assessment and drafting revisions as needed. Attendees at the GSTC2024 Conference in Stockholm (April 23-26) can participate in an in-person consultation workshop.
The Attraction Criteria Development Advisory Group includes esteemed organizations like the Singapore Tourism Board, Association of Singapore Attractions (ASA), IAAPA, SATSA, The Royal Djurgården Society, and the U.S. National Park Service.
