Unprecedented Growth in 2024 Highlights Vienna’s Momentum

In 2024, Vienna reached new heights, hosting 6,619 congresses and corporate events—an increase of three percent from the previous year. This growth not only demonstrates Vienna’s attractiveness to global event organizers but also underscores its economic importance. These events generated €1.32 billion in added value for Austria’s economy, reinforcing the meetings industry’s role as a major contributor to employment and public revenue.

International congresses made a substantial impact, with 781 events drawing nearly two hundred sixty thousand participants. Collectively, they injected €956 million into the economy, accounting for seventy-three percent of the total financial boost from the industry. New Vienna Meeting Fund to Boost Sustainable International Events

To maintain this upward trajectory, Vienna has unveiled the Vienna Meeting Fund 2025–2028, allocating €4 million to support international events hosted between January 2025 and December 2028. This initiative offers financial incentives for organizers who meet qualifying criteria, such as a multi-day event duration, a thematic agenda, and a significant share of international attendees.

Sustainability lies at the core of the fund. Events that adopt green practices may receive up to €60,000 in support. This eco-conscious funding model reflects Vienna’s long-standing commitment to responsible tourism and sustainability in the global meetings industry.
