Mélodie Flanagan Salama, the hotel’s General Manager, shared her enthusiasm about this accomplishment, remarking, “Achieving Green Globe certification after diligent efforts is a source of immense pride for us. Since welcoming guests in 1913, the Victoria Palace Hôtel has been synonymous with luxury and tradition, counting literary greats like Katherine Mansfield, James Joyce, and artist Giorgio de Chirico among its distinguished visitors. Now, the hotel is embracing a forward-thinking approach by integrating sustainability into its daily operations.
Achieving Green Globe certification required a comprehensive commitment to environmental responsibility. The hotel has transitioned to renewable energy sources and implemented energy-saving solutions, including LED lighting, motion sensors, and state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Water conservation has also been a priority, with the installation of low-flow fixtures and staff training programs that have successfully reduced water consumption by 60%.
In an effort to combat food waste, the Victoria Palace Hôtel partners with the “Too Good To Go” initiative, making surplus breakfast items available to the local community at an affordable price. Additionally, organic waste is composted on a weekly basis, further reinforcing the hotel’s sustainability efforts.
Beyond environmental initiatives, the hotel is actively involved in charitable projects. It supports causes such as Pink October and Gold September, which raise awareness and funds for breast cancer and pediatric cancer research.
