Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board launches speaker series

VFTCBA speaker series has been launched by the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board as a benefit for members. The first session which will be held on Jan 28 will focus on social media.
The move, taken by the organization, is part of an ongoing effort to retain and increase membership.
According to Edward Harris, vice president of marketing and communications, the agency is planning six Speaker Series events in 2016. He added that membership in the organization grew by about 23 percent in 2015, so it made sense to offer an added benefit of membership.
“We want to provide more value for our members, and we felt that providing an educational piece in addition to our traditional mixers is one way to do that,” he said. “We have found that in the market there is no one else doing that. We want to do something no one else is doing.”
The topic for the initial session is “Finding Your Sharable Moments: Creative Content for Social Media,” led by Joe Tacynec, Creative Content and Social Media Manager, and Taylor Tropea, Marketing and Social Media Associate for the organization.
The tourism agency has been putting a focus on social media efforts. The Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board has more than 65,000 followers across all channels, including Snapchat, which is a new channel Harris said the organization is experimenting with.
The Jan. 28 program on social media runs from 4 to 5 p.m. and will be followed by a networking mixer from 5 to 6 p.m. It’s not necessary to be a member of the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board to attend the Speaker Series.
