The United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) has announced the recipients of the 2023 USTOA Future Lights of the Tour Industry, recognising two up-and-coming leaders in the travel sector for their efforts in sustainability and DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) initiatives within their companies.
The 2023 USTOA Future Lights are Julie Higgins, Director of Hotel Operations/Sustainability Officer at Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, and Mikey Sadowski, Vice President of Global Communications at Intrepid Travel. Julie Higgins has played a key role in Uniworld’s sustainability efforts, leading initiatives to reduce food waste and implementing a food waste management system onboard their ships.
Mikey Sadowski, on the other hand, has been instrumental in shaping Intrepid Travel’s responsible travel positioning and creating Ethical Marketing Guidelines to promote diversity and inclusivity within the brand.
The nominations were considered by a panel of USTOA Active and Associate Members, and the program’s sponsor, Trip Mate, a Generali Global Assistance company, expressed its commitment to supporting DEI and sustainability initiatives.
The USTOA Future Lights will be honoured at the USTOA Annual Conference and Marketplace in Los Angeles, held from December 2 to December 6, 2023. This recognition highlights the dedication of these emerging leaders in driving positive change within the travel industry and their companies.
