Saudi Arabia Welcomes a New Wave of Uzbek Travellers as Tourism Soars in 2026

Riyadh

Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan are seeing stronger tourism movement as 167,337 Uzbek citizens travelled to Saudi Arabia for tourism purposes during January-July 2026, an increase of 10.3% compared with the same period in 2025. The latest figures from Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee place Saudi Arabia among the country’s leading overseas destinations during the seven-month period.
The increase adds to a broader expansion in outbound travel from Uzbekistan. During January-July, around 4.4 million Uzbek citizens travelled abroad for tourism, with Saudi Arabia ranking fifth among the most visited international destinations.

Saudi Arabia Becomes a Major Overseas Destination

The latest figures show Saudi Arabia attracting more Uzbek travellers than several other major international destinations. During the first seven months of 2026, Saudi Arabia recorded 167,337 tourism trips from Uzbekistan, compared with 166,893 to Türkiye. The United Arab Emirates recorded 47,020 trips, while China, Egypt and Vietnam also appeared among the leading destinations.
This places Saudi Arabia firmly within the travel patterns of Uzbekistan’s growing outbound tourism market. The country’s position in the Middle East and its expanding visitor infrastructure provide Uzbek travellers with access to major cities, cultural sites, coastal destinations and religious tourism locations.

Riyadh Adds a Modern City Experience

Riyadh provides one of the key urban experiences for travellers visiting Saudi Arabia. The capital combines contemporary architecture, shopping, restaurants and entertainment with heritage attractions and museums.
For Uzbek visitors extending their journeys beyond traditional tourism routes, Riyadh can provide a city-based itinerary incorporating cultural attractions, dining and retail experiences. The city’s expanding hospitality sector also offers a wide range of accommodation options for international visitors.
Business and leisure travel can also overlap in Riyadh, allowing visitors to combine commercial activity with sightseeing during the same trip.

Jeddah Connects Culture With the Red Sea

Jeddah offers another important destination for international travellers arriving in Saudi Arabia. Located along the Red Sea, the city combines historic neighbourhoods with coastal attractions, shopping and hospitality experiences.
Al-Balad, Jeddah’s historic district, provides visitors with an opportunity to explore traditional architecture and the city’s heritage. The Red Sea setting also adds marine and coastal experiences to itineraries, giving travellers an alternative to the urban environment of Riyadh.
For Uzbek tourists, combining Riyadh and Jeddah can create a multi-city Saudi Arabian journey covering both inland and coastal experiences.

Mecca and Medina Remain Important Travel Destinations

Saudi Arabia also has a major religious tourism dimension for international visitors. Mecca and Medina are among the country’s most significant destinations for Muslim travellers, with pilgrimage and religious journeys forming an important part of international visitor movement.
Uzbekistan has a predominantly Muslim population, making religious travel an important component of the connection between the two countries. Travellers visiting for pilgrimage can also encounter Saudi Arabia’s hospitality infrastructure, transportation networks and services developed around international visitors.
The country’s broader tourism expansion provides additional opportunities for visitors to combine religious travel with cultural and leisure experiences where itineraries allow.

Saudi Arabia Expands Its Tourism Landscape

Saudi Arabia has been developing a broader tourism offering alongside its established religious tourism sector. International visitors can now find experiences ranging from heritage and culture to desert landscapes, entertainment, hospitality and Red Sea destinations.
For travellers from Uzbekistan, this wider portfolio creates opportunities to explore different parts of the Kingdom. A journey can combine major cities with heritage locations, coastal areas and cultural attractions.
The growth in Uzbek visitor numbers comes as Saudi Arabia continues developing its international tourism market and expanding the range of experiences available to overseas travellers.

Uzbekistan’s Outbound Travel Continues to Grow

Saudi Arabia’s rising position within Uzbekistan’s outbound tourism market also reflects broader changes in international mobility. The National Statistics Committee reported that 4.4 million Uzbek citizens travelled abroad for tourism purposes between January and July 2026.
Neighbouring Central Asian countries remained the most visited destinations, but Saudi Arabia’s position among the top five demonstrates the growing reach of Uzbek outbound travel beyond the region.
Türkiye, Russia and Saudi Arabia all attracted more than 160,000 Uzbek tourism trips during the seven-month period, showing the scale of demand for international destinations outside Uzbekistan’s immediate neighbourhood.

Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan Strengthen Travel Links

The increase in Uzbek visitors gives Saudi Arabia another important source market as the Kingdom continues expanding its tourism sector. The 10.3% annual rise means more Uzbek travellers are choosing Saudi Arabia for international tourism, while the seven-month total places the country among Uzbekistan’s leading overseas destinations.
For visitors, Saudi Arabia offers a combination of modern cities, historic districts, religious destinations, Red Sea experiences and expanding hospitality facilities. As travel between the two countries continues to grow, the latest figures highlight a strengthening tourism connection between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia and a growing role for the Kingdom within Central Asian outbound travel.
