The PGA TOUR is about to make its debut in The Golf Capital of the World with the Myrtle Beach Classic, and all eyes are on the exciting qualifying event dubbed “The Q at Myrtle Beach.” Set to unfold at TPC Myrtle Beach on March 4, this unique tournament will pit 16 players against each other in an intense 18-hole showdown, with the ultimate prize being a coveted sponsor exemption into the TOUR event.

While the doors to “The Q at Myrtle Beach” remain closed to the public, golf enthusiasts won’t miss out on the action. A 90-minute video capturing the tournament’s highlights is slated for release on Play Golf Myrtle Beach’s YouTube channel on April 23. Additionally, participating creators will share their perspectives and experiences through content on their respective channels, offering insights into this groundbreaking event.

Presented by Golf Tourism Solutions (GTS) and Visit Myrtle Beach, “The Q at Myrtle Beach” brings together a diverse group of 16 contenders, many with strong ties to South Carolina. Notably, eight renowned figures from the realms of golf and content creation are among the participants. Regardless of their professional status, all contenders must meet the stringent PGA TOUR Tournament Regulations for sponsor exemptions, including holding a USGA handicap of 0.0 or better. Furthermore, all competitors remain eligible for PGA TOUR events if they meet the qualifications.

“Fueled by our passion for golf and belief in the magic of Myrtle Beach golf experiences, GTS is thrilled to host ‘The Q at Myrtle Beach’ and extend a warm welcome to the players in The Golf Capital of the World,” said Ryan Cannon, executive director of GTS.

Since 1990, a total of 12 PGA TOUR players have secured victories through sponsor exemptions. Most recently, Nick Dunlap, a sophomore from the University of Alabama, clinched the 2024 American Express title via a sponsor exemption before turning professional and accepting TOUR membership.

Here’s a look at the lineup of 16 players competing in the event, listed alphabetically:

Scheduled for May 6-12, 2024, at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, the Myrtle Beach Classic boasts a $3.9 million purse and awards 300 FedExCup points to the champion. TPC Myrtle Beach, designed by Tom Fazio and Lanny Wadkins, is renowned as one of America’s top 100 public courses and a premier event venue, having hosted prestigious events like the PGA TOUR Champions’ 2000 Charles Schwab Cup Championship and the NCAA Division I Myrtle Beach Regional tournament in 2019.
