What do Bob Dylan, Dawn French and Melissa Etheridge have in common? They are just a few of the international superstars who have chosen to entertain their fans at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Now, PCEC has another reason to celebrate. In March, the state-of-the-art venue hit a new milestone – 10 million visitors!“Given that Perth’s population is only 2 million, we are absolutely thrilled that so many people have had an opportunity to use and enjoy the venue,” PCEC General Manager Nigel Keen said.
“Overseas and interstate visitors have been walking through our doors in significant numbers, but it is also heartening to know that locals have also been making great use of the space – returning time and time again.”This year is shaping up to be the most successful yet, with an estimated 900,000 people expected to attend more than 600 events.
The past 12 months has seen 45 concerts held at PCEC – the highest number since its opening in August 2004. By July, 568 performances will have taken place at the venue.
“It goes to show that PCEC offers world class facilities that promoters and performers are looking for,” Mr Keen said.
“We spent a lot of time and effort ensuring our venues have the perfect combination of sound quality and ambience. For example, the Riverside Theatre can seat up to 2,500 people, but many often remark how warm and intimate the space can feel.
“It really gives our guests a special experience, allowing them to truly appreciate the brilliance of their favourite musicians, comedians and performers.”However, concerts only form a fraction of the events held at PCEC; various conferences, functions, meetings, expos, conventions and Exhibitions are held daily. There is a bright future ahead with events such as the Careers Expo, the Mundella EveryWoman Expo and the Perth Home Show over the coming months.
