OPCC Presents Annual Scholarship Donation to JCCC

overland-park-convention-center-300x205Global Spectrum, operators of the Overland Park Convention Center, and Aramark each donated $2,500 to the JCCC Hospitality Management program.

 

On May 16th the check was presented to Ona Ashley, Director of Hospitality Management along with Eddie Adel, Assistant Professor and Jon Prange recent JCCC Graduate and Certified Sous Chef.
“This contribution will enhance the educational experience for those students in the Hospitality Management program; supporting this program will assist in preparing future students with the tools to be successful,” stated Brett C. Mitchell, General Manager for Global Spectrum at the Overland Park Convention Center.

 

The JCCC Hospitality Management program has a strong reputation both in the Johnson County area as well as nationally.

 

“Our programs are taught by highly trained faculty and the students are required to work in the hospitality field under industry professionals, so our students have the knowledge and theory in the classroom that they can immediately put to use in a practical setting.

 

They have the college degree and the experience so they get good jobs when they graduate,” stated Ashley.
Overland Park Convention Center opened in November of 2002 on a 26-acre site in the heart of Overland Park, the largest suburban city in the Kansas City metropolitan area and the second largest city in Kansas.

 

Adorned with over sixty original works of art and equipped with state-of-the-art communications systems, the 254,000 square foot complex features a 60,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall that connects to the 25,000 sq. ft. Edwin C.

 

Eilert Ballroom and 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting room space. Natural light radiates throughout the unusually spacious (44,000 sq. ft.) pre-function and registration areas.
Global Spectrum (global-spectrum.com) manages more than 120 other public assembly facilities around the world.

 

Nearly 23-million people attended more than 15,000 events in Global Spectrum venues last year.
