In a groundbreaking effort to foster inclusive travel across Africa, the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) has announced an innovative two-year partnership with the African Travel & Tourism Association (ATTA®). This pioneering collaboration is designed to connect global LGBTQ+ travelers with Africa’s expansive and varied tourism experiences, while championing equality and cultural exchange.
As part of this agreement, ATTA® will become an official member of IGLTA, unlocking access to a worldwide platform that prioritizes inclusive travel. This membership provides ATTA® with exclusive marketing opportunities and increased global visibility, reaching IGLTA’s extensive network of LGBTQ+ travelers, tour operators, and media outlets in over 80 countries. In return, IGLTA will also join ATTA®’s membership base, gaining invaluable connections within Africa’s tourism sector and enhanced promotional access through ATTA®’s key channels.
The collaboration goes beyond just membership—it marks a shared commitment to the core values of safety, inclusivity, and representation for LGBTQ+ travelers across Africa. Planned joint initiatives will include co-branded marketing campaigns, destination spotlights, and compelling storytelling that showcase Africa’s emerging status as a welcoming destination for LGBTQ+ tourists.
Together, IGLTA and ATTA® are setting a bold example for global cooperation in tourism, emphasizing inclusivity as a cornerstone for the future of travel. This partnership not only strengthens industry connections but also underscores the importance of diversity, ensuring that all travelers feel valued, respected, and embraced.
This alliance is poised to drive significant growth, education, and awareness, opening new opportunities for LGBTQ+ tourism in Africa while highlighting the continent’s rich cultural heritage, hospitality, and untapped tourism potential.
