MSC Cruises has reached a landmark moment in its South American journey, commemorating three decades of successful operations in Argentina. What began in 1995 with a modest office opening in Buenos Aires has evolved into a robust, trusted cruise brand deeply connected with the Argentine market and broader South American travel scene.

In late May, MSC Cruises hosted a special celebration in the heart of Buenos Aires to honor this 30-year milestone. The event not only highlighted the brand’s accomplishments over the years but also underscored the profound bond MSC has built with generations of Argentine travelers. From its earliest voyages to today’s large-scale cruise operations, MSC has remained a key player in delivering unforgettable vacation experiences across the continent.

The roots of MSC Cruises’ local expansion can be traced to 2004, when it began offering its first domestic cruise itineraries from Argentina, a full decade after setting up its office in the country. The introduction of ships like the MSC Monterey, Melody, and Rhapsody marked the beginning of a growing presence that helped MSC become synonymous with cruising in the Southern Cone. These early efforts laid the groundwork for a long-term investment in the region’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

Over the years, MSC Cruises has continuously enhanced its fleet, bringing newer and more advanced vessels to Buenos Aires. Ships such as the MSC Opera, MSC Musica, MSC Sinfonia, and MSC Splendida have all become regular sights in Argentine waters, serving thousands of guests and reinforcing MSC’s status as a premier cruise provider in South America.

Looking ahead, MSC Cruises is preparing to elevate its presence even further. For the 2025-2026 season, the company plans to introduce two top-tier ships to the Argentine market. One of these, the MSC Fantasia, will make its regional debut, offering 14 spectacular cruises between November 2025 and March 2026. Designed to host up to 3,300 passengers, the MSC Fantasia will sail from Buenos Aires on eight- to ten-night itineraries to celebrated Brazilian and Uruguayan ports including Rio de Janeiro, Ilhabela, Ilha Grande, and Búzios.

Joining the Fantasia will be the MSC Preziosa, another luxurious addition to the seasonal lineup. From January to March 2026, this vessel will embark on seven-night cruises with stops in Punta del Este, Santos, Balneário Camboriú, and Itajaí—further broadening the variety of travel experiences available to Argentine cruisers.

These deployments are part of a larger regional strategy, with MSC Cruises planning to operate a total of six ships in South America during the 2025-2026 season. In addition to the Fantasia and Preziosa, the MSC Seaview, MSC Armonia, and MSC Lirica will also offer diverse itineraries designed for every type of traveler—from short escapes to longer, destination-rich voyages.

MSC Cruises’ enduring success in Argentina is built on a foundation of consistency, innovation, and customer trust. Over the last 30 years, the company has continually adapted to the evolving preferences of its guests while maintaining its core values of exceptional service and onboard excellence. Its growing fleet, expanding itineraries, and commitment to regional partnerships ensure MSC Cruises remains a leading force in the South American cruise industry.

As the company enters its next chapter in Argentina, it continues to prioritize memorable, high-quality cruise experiences for local and international guests alike. With fresh voyages on the horizon and a strong heritage behind it, MSC Cruises is poised to shape the future of cruising in South America for years to come.
