Megaworld Corp., managed by Andrew Tan, has revealed plans to build a P1.5 billion conference centre in Cebu, with the building set to open in 2025. The Mactan Expo Centre is located on a 30-hectare property. The Mactan Newtown community in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, will begin building this year.
The Mactan Expo Center’s two levels will largely serve to the flourishing meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (Mice) market. It will have a major convention hall that can hold up to 2,500 people in a theater-style setting or 1,600 people for banquets.
Megaworld’s Chief Strategy Officer, Kevin Tan, highlighted their desire to build another famous monument not just for Mactan but for the entire province of Cebu. The conference centre intends to boost the province’s thriving MICE industry by providing a one-of-a-kind independent facility. Furthermore, the facility will prioritise sustainable design and follow the Philippine Green Building Council’s criteria.
Megaworld Hotels & Resorts manages two hotel buildings in the Mactan Newtown municipality. These hotels are well-prepared to satisfy the Mactan Expo Center’s lodging needs. Furthermore, the center’s proximity to the seaside is an appealing possibility for visitors. Megaworld Hotels & Resorts Managing Director Cleofe Albiso emphasised this benefit, stating that the conference centre will be just a few steps away from the beach.
Megaworld’s investment in the Mactan Expo Centre reflects their dedication to strengthening Cebu’s Mice industry while providing a sustainable and convenient location for a variety of events and meetings.
