MPI received the highest honor within the Monthly Trade Association Magazine category in Association TRENDS’ 2013 All-Media Contest, and was one of nearly 470 entries in this year’s contest.
The Meeting Professional™ is a monthly magazine that delivers superior editorial content on trends, opportunities and issues facing the meeting and event industry. Earlier this year, MPI redesigned the award-winning magazine to feature a more member-focused format and layout – after spending more than a year meeting face to face with MPI members around the globe, asking them what they wanted from their member magazine. As a result, the publication now highlights more content on MPI members with added white space and shortened stories, and incorporates more photos of them as well, including prominent placement on the magazine’s cover each month.
“We couldn’t be more honored to be recognized as the best association trade magazine of the year,” said David Basler, editor in chief of The Meeting Professional™. “We launched The Meeting Professional™ back in August, with the promise that it had been redesigned for our members, by our members. Being a member-driven association, it was important to us that our redesigned magazine be a strong reflection of the voice of MPI’s diverse membership.”
The TRENDS All-Media Contest is an annual competition held exclusively for associations, recognizing the most creative and effective communication vehicles developed in the industry over the prior year. The 2013 competition included a record 467 entries in 22 categories of association communications.
MPI will be honored at the 35th Annual Salute to Association Excellence, to be held February 20, 2014, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C. The winning entry from MPI will be on display at the event, along with the other winners. As well as being honored at the Salute to Association Excellence, this year’s All-Media Contest winners will be featured in the January issue of TRENDS and online.
