Helen is moving from the Chevron Corporation head office in California to join the award-winning venue in September.
After nine years with Chevron, in London and San Francisco, she will return home to Melbourne and play an instrumental role in implementing the venue’s people and culture strategy.
With more than 25 years’ experience in Australia and internationally, Helen’s range of expertise includes people strategy; systems and technology; project and change management; recruitment; shared services; and talent management across industries as diverse as hospitality, retail, advertising and insurance.
MCEC Chief Executive Peter King said: “Helen will be instrumental in our ongoing focus to provide a culture that employees can continue to embrace with pride. “We want to be the employer of choice in this industry and while we think we are good now, we need to be great in the future.
“We’ve just finished another record year and while our current strategies are producing results, Helen’s role will see us develop further opportunities to grow the business through our employees and ensure the ongoing focus is to exceed our customers’ expectations,” King said.
MCEC’s employee-driven and organisation-wide culture program “unity” is built around a set of guiding principles created by employees to help the venue successfully deliver exceptional event experiences for its customers.
Helen said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the MCEC team and I’m looking forward to returning to Melbourne and starting the Director of People and Culture role at such an iconic venue.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the long term people and culture strategy that will ensure MCEC continues to grow in this increasingly competitive global environment.”
Recognised as Australasia’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre in 2012 and 2013 by the prestigious World Travel Awards, MCEC connects people with incredible spaces, leading technology, creative food and wine and people with the skills and experience to bring it all together.
