The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is pleased to announce Penang as our 1st MATTA Online Official Partner. This is one of the initiatives from the Penang State Tourism on reactivating the tourism industry and also part of the Penang Tourism Master Plan’s digitalization initiative.
MATTA Online that has launched on 22 June 2022 was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, a new AI-powered cutting-edge 24/7 online travel marketplace and platform for MATTA members comprising travel agents and tour operators for hotels, airlines, attractions, theme parks and other tourism providers.
‘We are optimistic with the collaboration with MATTA Online, Penang’s tourism industry will not only offer travellers alternative ways to book a memorable staycation, but it will also further develop our promotional activities via varied e-commerce platforms, which has become increasingly important since the Covid-19 outbreak. The value-for-money deals on accommodations, attractions, tours coupled with Penang’s fantastic diversity in culture, heritage, arts, food as well as its natural surroundings of lovely sandy beaches and breathtaking hills are certainly not to be missed,’ said YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) at the Press Conference today.
MATTA’s pioneering efforts for this online platform is to support small and medium travel agents in terms of marketing and contracting with the consumers. In line with government initiative of the digital economy, it is set to improve business opportunities, increase occupancy, bolster revenue generation and boost travel trade profitability. MATTA Online also provides an alternative for consumers to buy from a licensed platform to eliminate scammers, internet fraud and unlicensed travel agents.
We received more than 1M impressions and more than 600K reached from our social media promotion of MATTA Online. Through the platform, we have generated more than half a million of total sales since the platform launched less than a month ago.
