The Malta Tourism Authority has appointed Lindsey Thorpe as the new UK & Ireland MICE manager.
Thorpe will manage all opportunities within the MICE sector for the tourist board.
She has served as MICE account director at a London based agency and brings on board deep experience in the MICE market.
According to her, Malta is the perfect destination for meetings, conferences and incentives. Thorpe has an expertise in delivering European and UK trade shows and events, executing destination strategies and ultimately driving sales in the MICE sector.
She opines that the island has a unique offering for the UK MICE market. There is convenient and ever-increasing accessibility to the destination, a range of hotel stock for all group budgets, a unique heritage and culture providing fun and lively nightlife.
Peter Vella, MTA UK director said that tourists and business travellers from across the world are discovering the unique blend of sunshine, culture, history, beauty and hospitality.
Next year there will be the opening of the Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa, following a rebrand of the Le Méridien property. In 2020, the Hard Rock Café will be launched. There will be a MICE epicentre complete with 37,000 square feet of planned function space and the largest convention centre on the island.
Lindsey with her expertise in the meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions will help to showcase Malta as a premier European MICE destination.
