Macao has been named the International Favourite Destination at the highly anticipated MATTA Fair, taking place from April 18–20, 2025, at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. This prestigious recognition, announced by the Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA), underscores Macao’s growing popularity as a top destination for Malaysian travellers.

This accolade goes beyond an award; it reflects MATTA’s commitment to expanding global travel opportunities and offering valuable business prospects for travel agencies and industry professionals. In collaboration with the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), MATTA Fair 2025 will feature a wide range of enticing holiday packages, exclusive offers, and engaging promotions highlighting Macao’s unique attractions.

The Macao Pavilion, located at Level 2 – International Halls of MITEC, promises an immersive experience for visitors, with exclusive travel incentives tailored to Malaysian vacationers. The pavilion will showcase Macao’s exceptional blend of Eastern and Western cultures, offering a glimpse of the region’s luxurious resorts, historic landmarks, vibrant nightlife, and renowned culinary experiences.

Cora Vong, Marketing Division Head of MGTO, expressed her excitement over Macao’s recognition, saying, “Being named International Favourite Destination at MATTA Fair 2025 is a testament to our strong partnership with MATTA. This collaboration plays a key role in introducing Malaysian tourists to Macao’s newest attractions and reinforcing our city’s status as a premier short-haul destination.”

Nigel Wong, President of MATTA, highlighted the value of strategic partnerships, stating, “MATTA Fair plays a crucial role in connecting our members with global tourism markets, fostering meaningful business opportunities for both inbound and outbound sectors. Our partnership with Macao as this year’s featured international destination exemplifies the potential of such collaborations to unlock new business opportunities and enhance visitor experiences.”

In a bid to further broaden international tourism business prospects, MATTA is launching MATTA Connect, its inaugural international B2B event. Scheduled for April 17, 2025, just a day before the main MATTA Fair at MITEC, MATTA Connect will bring together international tourism suppliers and Malaysian travel agents to form strategic business partnerships and explore new global tourism markets.

To ensure an optimal visitor experience, MATTA Fair will be open from 10 am to 9 pm, Friday through Sunday, with free admission. Convenient transportation options include complimentary shuttle services from KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall directly to MITEC, while ample parking is available at the South Entrance Basement, MITI Basement, and the MATRADE open parking area.
