The India Literacy Board at its premises is planning to build up a Literacy Museum. In Lucknow, the India Literacy Board is commonly known as Literacy House.
At Literacy House in Lucknow, the foundation stone of the museum is probably to be laid in august and the project is anticipated to get finished in the coming one year.
Also, the board has urged the tourism department of the state to announce the campus as a special place for literacy tourism and this would draw domestic as well as international visitors to the place.
Sanjay Bhoosreddy, India Literacy Board chairman, on Saturday said that they have urged the tourism department of Uttar Pradesh to declare the India Literacy Board, Literacy House. It would be a destination for literary tourism. Also, a literacy museum will be built that would show the growth and expansion of the Literacy Program in India in all these years.
Showing the way puppets, pictorial books, and other tools were made use of to teach people in the olden times, at a cost of ₹8 crore, the museum will be built up. It will be designed by the noted architect, Laurie Baker, Bhoosreddy added.
In 1956, Welthy Honsinger Fisher, the U.S. citizen, had built up the India Literacy Board or Literacy House in Lucknow.
