Lapita, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Autograph Collection Achieves Certified Autism Center™ Recognition

Lapita, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Autograph Collection has officially been designated as a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), underscoring its dedication to providing an inclusive and accommodating environment for autistic and sensory-sensitive guests. This certification, awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), acknowledges organizations that go above and beyond to enhance accessibility and guest experience.

To achieve this designation, the hotel staff underwent extensive training to better understand and assist autistic individuals and those with sensory sensitivities. This initiative ensures that all visitors, including those with specialized accessibility needs, receive thoughtful and well-informed service throughout their stay.

The property features a range of accessibility-focused amenities, including designated parking spaces, step-free pathways, and elevators providing easy access to key areas such as the pool, fitness center, business facilities, and restaurants. Guest rooms are equipped with mobility-friendly features like roll-in showers with adjustable fixtures, sturdy grab bars, and enhanced auditory accessibility tools. Additional safety measures, including visual alert systems, lever-style door handles, and secure locking mechanisms, contribute to a comfortable and secure stay for all guests.

This achievement aligns with Dubai’s broader mission to establish itself as a Certified Autism Destination™ (CAD), led by the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The initiative seeks to enhance accommodations, entertainment venues, and attractions across the city, positioning Dubai as a leading inclusive travel destination in the Eastern Hemisphere.

IBCCES played a crucial role in evaluating the hotel, conducting an in-depth on-site assessment, and offering customized recommendations. Sensory guides were also developed to help guests understand environmental factors like noise levels and lighting variations, allowing them to make informed decisions before visiting different areas of the hotel.

For over 20 years, IBCCES has been at the forefront of training professionals in healthcare, education, and corporate sectors to support individuals with cognitive differences. It is the only global organization that provides specialized training for travel and hospitality professionals, working closely with autistic self-advocates and industry experts. Additionally, IBCCES operates AutismTravel.com, a free online resource that connects families with certified destinations and accessibility-focused travel information, fostering a more inclusive global travel experience.
