The Kazakhstan Tourism Board, in partnership with seven key representatives from the country’s tourism sector, recently connected with Mumbai’s travel industry to spotlight Kazakhstan’s diverse offerings and the untapped potential it holds as a prime travel destination for Indian tourists.
Kazakhstan, an emerging jewel in Central Asia, is quickly gaining traction among Indian travelers for its unique combination of adventure, culture, and natural beauty. From the lively cities of Almaty and Astana to the stunning national parks and tranquil landscapes, Kazakhstan promises a travel experience that caters to a wide array of interests.
According to data from the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there was a significant surge in Indian visitors to Kazakhstan in 2023. The number of Indian tourists skyrocketed from 28,000 in 2022 to an impressive 78,000 in 2023. Specifically, Indian tourists utilizing accommodation facilities in Kazakhstan saw a remarkable rise, growing from 19,000 in 2022 to 54,000 in 2023—an astounding 178.57% increase.
This notable growth in Indian tourist arrivals can be attributed to several key developments. The introduction of daily direct flights between India and Kazakhstan has made travel more accessible. Additionally, the implementation of a 14-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens in 2022 has significantly reduced travel barriers, boosting Kazakhstan’s appeal as a top destination for Indian tourists.
On August 22, the Kazakhstan Tourism Board led a delegation to Mumbai to present Kazakhstan’s tourism potential to Indian tour operators and members of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI). The event, organized in collaboration with Salvia Promoters Pvt.Ltd. presented a wide range of tour packages and emphasized the country’s preparedness to host an increasing number of Indian visitors.
This event was organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with support from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in India. The gathering also included B2B meetings, facilitating direct interactions between Indian and Kazakh tour operators to enhance bilateral tourism cooperation.
As Kazakhstan continues to establish itself as a top destination for Indian tourists, the successful engagement in Mumbai marks a significant milestone in fostering cultural exchange and tourism between the two nations.
