MICE Expo 2023 will take place in Jaffna from 30th November to 3rd December 2023.
Sri Lankan Convention Bureau (SLCB) is organising the first-ever event under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and Lands.
The objective of the event is to promote Northern Province as an ideal MICE destination. Its especially for visitors from South India.
Jaffna will be an ideal gateway to attract the Indian MICE travellers through the South Indian connectivity via air and sea.
Jaffna MICE Expo will be an excellent engaging platform and consist of a Business Forum, B2B event, networking sessions, special dinners and a familiarization tour of Jaffna.
The three-day MICE Expo 2023 will showcase and will position Northern Province as a destination for business events; Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions.
The pet 40+ buyers and 5 media personals from South India will arrive on 30th November 2023 by Alliance Air.
The all necessary arrangements have been made with the airport authorities to welcome the hosted buyers.
This delegation from South India includes regional leaders of South India MICE Association (SIMA), Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), Enterprising Travel Agents Association of India (ETAA) and Tamilnadu Travel Mart Society (TTMS).
The Jaffna MICE Expo was curated to offer maximum exposure to the Northern Province tourism service providers. There will be two in one seller approach targeting Indian buyers and also the local buyers.
The event received overwhelming responses from the local vendors and international buyers.
The activities in relation with maiden Jaffna MICE Expo will start with the Media Conference on 30th November 2023 at 03.00 pm at the Thinnai Hotel in Jaffna.
Hon. Minister of Tourism and Lands, Harin Fernando is expected to join the Media Conference with the participation of Hosted Media from India and Sri Lanka.
The Business Forum will take place at 04.30pm at the Thinnai Hotel on 30th November 2023 It will likely discuss MICE business collaborations and opportunities that Sri Lanka can offer for the MICE travellers and professionals from India.
The event will be held under the patronage of Hon. Minister of Tourism & Lands and with the participation of Heads of South Indian Tourism Associations and representatives form Consulate General Office of India in Jaffna, Hosted Buyers and Media from India, Local Tourism Authorities and Local Tourism Association representatives.
The Welcome Dinner will be held at the same hotel and expected to showcase Jaffna Culinary experience and culture to visiting delegation from India.
The opening ceremony of the Jaffna MICE Expo will be held at 09.00am on 1st December 2023 at the North Gate Hotel and Hon. Minister of Tourism and Lands, Harin Fernando is expected to join the event as the Chief Guest and Hon. Mrs. P. S. M. Charles, Governor of Northern Province is invited to grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The main event of the Jaffna MICE Expo, B2B sessions will commence soon after the opening ceremony and expected to host more than 2,000 meetings during the 06 hour period between 45 hosted buyers and local vendors.
B2B will provide an opportunity for local service providers such as event organizers, travels agents, hotels, venue partners to engage with foreign buyers to market their product and services to provide the assurance needed to strengthen their confidence in hosting international events in Sri Lanka.
MICE is all about creating experiences. In order to give an unforgettable experience to our hosted buyers and local vendors, SLCB has planned a themed Gala dinner at one of the Islands of the coast of Jaffna on 01st December 2023.
Jaffna Familiarization tour will kick off on 02nd December 2023 and will include Nallur Kanthaswami Kovil, Jaffna Kingdom, Keerimale natural spring, Nakuleshwaram Shiva temple, Chunnakam Market, Kantharodai, Maruthanarmadam Anchaneyar temple, Jaffna fort, Jaffna Public Library and Happy market. Fox Resorts Jaffna will offer an authentic lunch experience during the tour.
Goodbye meet up for the buyers is scheduled to take place at the Jetwing Jaffna during the dinner.
Entry to all events related to Jaffna MICE Expo will be subjected to prior registration.
Jetwing Jaffna hotel, Thinnai hotel, North Gate hotel and Fox Resorts Jaffna have come on board as partner hotels.
