Indian Railways have made elaborate arrangements to clear extra rush of traffic for the festival season from October 2013 to November 2013. Around 4000 trips of special trains have been planned to handle the rush during this festival period (Puja-Chhath-Other special trains etc.). These special trains have been planned by all the Zonal Railways spread across the country over more than 38 different popular routes.
In addition, extra coaches are also being attached to regular trains to the extent operationally feasible as per the requirement. Out of the Puja/Chhath/other special planned, 11 trains are unreserved, 20 are fully air-conditioned and 25 are provided with superfast status. Zonal railways are constantly assessing traffic requirement and more specials/trips can be planned as and when required. The specials are connecting cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Jammu Tawi, Jaipur, Guwahati, Lucknow, Patna, Chandigarh, Chennai, Muzaffarpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Dharbhanga, Puri, Indore, Secunderabad etc.
The Zonal Railways and the Divisional Railways have made action plans for the convenience of the passengers during this rush period. Adequate publicity is being given to special trains through media at local level. Checking squads are being deployed at reservation offices; inspections are being strengthened to prevent misuse of tickets etc. Special arrangements are being made to make regular announcements about additional coaches, special trains etc. at stations. The list of special trains is also enclosed with this press release. The information about the special trains is also available at Railway Website i.e. trainenquiry.com and on the websites of respective Zonal Railways.
