Iberia Airlines Triumphs at World Travel Catering Expo, Earning Three Top Awards for Unmatched Onboard Experience

Iberia Airlines has cemented its position as an industry leader by winning three distinguished awards at the World Travel Catering and Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) in Hamburg, Germany this week. These accolades celebrate Iberia’s commitment to delivering premium in-flight experiences, setting a high standard for service excellence.

For the second consecutive year, Iberia earned the coveted “Best Onboard Service in Europe 2025” title at the PAX International Awards. This prestigious honor highlights the airline’s consistent focus on offering unparalleled in-flight dining, reinforcing its dedication to providing superior service across Europe.

Iberia also claimed two significant honors at the Onboard Hospitality Awards, a key event recognizing innovation and excellence in airline services. The first award, the “Gold Prize for Best Cabin Interior Concept,” was granted for Iberia’s innovative A321XLR, which debuted globally in November 2024. The airline was praised for the cabin’s seamless fusion of sustainability, comfort, and cutting-edge technology, greatly enhancing the overall passenger experience. The A321XLR exemplifies Iberia’s continued efforts to expand its long-haul network.

Paula Lafora, Iberia’s Director of Customer Experience, said, “Receiving these awards highlights our ongoing commitment to customer service. In November 2024, we were the first airline in the world to operate the A321XLR, a new narrow-body aircraft model with the range to perform transoceanic flights. Creating the best onboard experience for our customers was a real challenge, and this award recognises the tremendous work done by all the airline’s teams to make it possible.” 

The second Onboard Hospitality Award recognized Iberia’s “Best Short-Haul Economy Meal,” awarded for the airline’s creamy cuttlefish and shrimp rice dish. Developed in collaboration with the renowned culinary provider DO&CO, this meal has garnered exceptional reviews for its quality and flavor. It is part of Iberia’s gastrobar service, demonstrating the airline’s ongoing commitment to elevating its menu and offering a world-class culinary experience.

These prestigious awards were determined by a combination of votes from readers of Onboard Hospitality magazine and selections by a panel of experts from the travel and hospitality industries. Iberia’s triumphs further reinforce its reputation as a frontrunner in airline service, design, and dining innovation.
