The 12th edition of FITUR Know-How & Export, organized by SEGITTUR and FITUR in collaboration with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, will shine a spotlight on the Smart Destination Platform, the role of European funds in digitizing the tourism sector, and the impact of Artificial Intelligence. The event is scheduled to take place from January 24 to 26, 2024, at IFEMA MADRID.

The focal point of this edition will be the Smart Destination Platform, exploring how European Next Generation funds contribute to the digital transformation of destinations. Discussions will delve into SDP user cases and emphasize the significance of data in enhancing tourism management.

A special emphasis will be placed on the smart destinations model, both nationally and internationally. Representatives from multilateral institutions like the IDB, the Asian Development Bank, and the CAF Development Bank of Latin America will be in attendance.

Artificial Intelligence will play a significant role, not just through presentations but also in the inaugural competition of tourism solutions developed with AI. The event, titled “The IA for Tourism Awards 2024,” is scheduled for January 25, featuring nearly 20 applications from destinations and sector companies.

Sustainability will also take center stage, focusing on the sector’s shift to the circular economy, the creation of agricultural experiences, and the dissemination of industry best practices related to the SDGs, as a result of the UN Global Compact working group.

The exhibition will feature forty companies, including Adestic, Alojapro, AR Visión, and many more. These companies will showcase their innovations, covering areas such as digitalization, sustainable practices, and the integration of AI in tourism solutions.

In the workshop area, known as SEGITTURLAB, tourism professionals will have access to diverse training options. Topics will include hotel digitalization, the impact of sustainability on bookings, the use of free GPT in tourist offices to attract tourists, and innovative approaches like virtual tours and intelligent tourist signage implementation.
