Fiji Captures Chinese Travellers’ Hearts With AI-Powered Stories of Paradise and Adventure

Fiji

Fiji, Nadi and the Mamanuca Islands are gaining a new digital gateway to Chinese travellers as Tourism Fiji partners with Baidu Wenku to create AI-powered travel stories showcasing the destination’s beaches, marine experiences, culture, cuisine, adventure and wellness. The initiative introduces Fiji through AI-generated presentations and animated videos designed for Chinese audiences, shifting destination storytelling toward more visual and interactive formats.
The partnership comes as Chinese travellers increasingly use digital platforms and short-form content to discover destinations and shape their holiday plans. Tourism Fiji has already introduced AI-based travel planning through Douyin, giving users access to personalised destination recommendations and multi-day itineraries within the Chinese social media environment.
The latest Baidu Wenku collaboration adds another layer to Fiji’s digital tourism strategy by turning destination information into AI-assisted stories that can introduce potential visitors to the country before they begin making detailed travel plans.

Baidu Wenku expands Fiji’s digital storytelling

Baidu Wenku is one of China’s major online knowledge and document platforms and has increasingly developed AI-based content creation capabilities. Its Office Agent technology can support presentation generation, visual formatting and animated video scripting, allowing destination information to be transformed into multimedia travel content.
For Tourism Fiji, the collaboration centres on five tourism themes: adventure, food, culture, nature and wellness. These categories allow Chinese audiences to discover Fiji through different travel interests rather than through a single beach-holiday narrative.
The resulting content is designed to present Fiji’s landscapes and experiences in formats suited to digital consumption. Tourism Fiji and Baidu Wenku have already produced animated videos based on Fijian tourism resources, with one series using a manta ray as a visual guide through marine environments, tropical islands and local communities.

Fiji showcases more than beaches

The AI travel stories give travellers a broader picture of what a Fiji holiday can include. Visitors can build itineraries around snorkelling, diving, sailing and island excursions, while cultural experiences can include village visits and traditional ceremonies.
The Mamanuca and Yasawa island groups offer opportunities for travellers seeking beaches, marine activities and island stays. Other destinations, including Savusavu and Taveuni, provide access to forests, coastlines and quieter nature-based experiences.
Nadi remains an important arrival point for international visitors and a gateway to Fiji’s island resorts and other regions. Travellers can also explore the Coral Coast, visit Suva for cultural and urban experiences, or combine several islands during a longer holiday.

Chinese travellers receive more tailored options

Tourism Fiji has been developing content specifically for different Chinese traveller segments. In August 2026, it launched Chinese-language guides for families, couples, solo travellers and groups, featuring accommodation, activities and itinerary ideas tailored to different travel styles.
Couples can explore private beaches, sunset cruises, beachfront dining, sandbank picnics and spa experiences. Families can combine resort stays with marine activities and cultural experiences, while solo travellers can explore island communities and nature destinations. Groups can consider private villas, large resorts, diving, sailing and cultural activities.
The availability of Chinese-language travel information gives visitors more opportunities to research destinations and experiences before departure.

AI connects travel inspiration with planning

The move toward AI-assisted destination marketing reflects a wider change in how travellers discover holidays. Tourism Fiji’s earlier Douyin AI Travel Planner allows users watching Fiji-related videos to open a conversational interface and receive recommendations based on their interests, travel dates and content interactions. The system can suggest destinations, accommodation, dining and experiences before generating multi-day itineraries.
The Baidu Wenku initiative focuses more directly on storytelling, using AI-generated presentations and animated videos to communicate Fiji’s tourism experiences to Chinese audiences. Together, the two initiatives create different digital entry points into the destination: visual storytelling for discovery and conversational planning for itinerary development.

China remains an important tourism market

Fiji’s international visitor data shows the importance of digital channels for Asian travellers. In Fiji’s 2023 International Visitor Survey, internet searches and social media were among the leading sources used by Asian visitors when planning trips. The survey also identified Fiji’s natural beauty and the opportunity to visit somewhere new among major factors influencing travel decisions.
More recent arrivals data shows China remains a smaller source market than Australia, New Zealand and the United States. In June 2026, Fiji recorded 98,522 visitor arrivals, with China and Continental Europe each contributing just under 2,500 visitors.

Fiji builds a digital route to travel

For Chinese travellers, the latest initiative adds another way to discover Fiji before booking flights, accommodation or activities. The AI-generated stories can introduce island destinations, marine adventures, local culture, food and wellness experiences through visual formats designed for Chinese digital audiences.
For travellers considering Fiji, the result is a growing collection of digital tools that can help transform initial curiosity into destination research and itinerary ideas. From Nadi and Denarau to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands, the Coral Coast, Taveuni and Suva, Fiji is increasingly presenting its tourism experiences through AI-powered storytelling built around the way Chinese travellers discover and plan international holidays.
