Recently the City of Edmonton made it official that they will end the problem of homelessness by offering all homeless people to stay in the Edmonton Convention Centre in the city’s downtown. This will be used as a temporary accommodation site during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This pandemic has affected the entire administrative system of the city. It has forced a gap in services and several people are left homeless every month. And with this temporary set up, people at the large will experience absolute safety, get proper services and enjoy residing in a permanent home like environment amidst unsafe outer world that is constantly troubled with virus threat.

Due to the growing homeless population the city is taking major steps in managing the situation and have even established make shift residing places for vagabonds and jobless population.

Over 2000, people are there in the city who does not have any place to reside and the new Edmonton is all set to welcome them and shelter properly. So, no more unsheltered living under the sky, instead people may reside inside the convention centre.

Earlier this week, Mayor Don Iveson announced the city plans to use $8 million from Edmonton’s share of federal restart funding to open and run a new centre to support homeless and vulnerable people by the end of the month
