The UAE’s long-term multiple-entry tourist visa is valid for five years. ICP states that a holder can enter and leave the UAE multiple times, while a continuous stay can be up to 90 days. The authority also says the stay may be extended for an equivalent period, provided the total does not exceed 180 days within a single year. UAE ICP
The calculation has an important detail for repeat visitors. ICP says the 90-day annual period is calculated from the date of the traveller’s first entry rather than from the start of the calendar year or the visa issuance date. Unused days also cannot be carried forward into the following year. UAE ICP
The first entry must take place within 60 days of visa issuance. After entry, the visa permits subsequent visits. UAE ICP

Dubai turns repeat visits into multi-stop holidays
For travellers using Dubai as their base, the five-year validity supports different holiday styles. One visit might focus on Downtown Dubai, the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, while another can explore historic Al Fahidi, Dubai Creek, souks and local food.
Beach stays are another option, with Jumeirah, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina offering hotels, restaurants, waterfront attractions and leisure activities. Return visits can also centre on shopping festivals, cultural events, exhibitions and seasonal entertainment.
Dubai’s international airport also makes the city a practical arrival point for travellers combining the emirate with other UAE destinations.
Abu Dhabi adds culture, beaches and family attractions
A repeat UAE trip does not need to stop in Dubai. Abu Dhabi offers a different travel mix, making it suitable for a second stop or a separate holiday.
Visitors can explore Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, while Yas Island provides theme parks, entertainment venues and family attractions. Saadiyat Island adds beaches, resorts and cultural destinations, while the Corniche provides a waterfront route through the capital.
The two cities are connected by road, allowing travellers to combine Dubai and Abu Dhabi during one visit. Cars, taxis, buses and organised transfers provide travel options.
Beyond the two major cities
The long-term visa also opens access to destinations across the wider UAE. Sharjah offers museums, heritage sites and cultural attractions, while Ras Al Khaimah combines mountain landscapes, beaches and outdoor activities. Fujairah provides access to the UAE’s east coast, with beaches, diving and mountain scenery.
Longer itineraries can combine city sightseeing with desert experiences, coastal breaks and heritage visits.
A practical option for frequent UAE travellers
The five-year visa does not mean unlimited stays. Travellers must follow the applicable 90-day limit and any extension rules, maintain the required documents and comply with UAE entry conditions. UAE ICP
For visitors regularly returning to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other emirates, the long validity supports multiple holidays and leisure itineraries each year. It also gives travellers room to experience the UAE in stages, from major city attractions and beaches to cultural districts, mountain landscapes and desert tourism.
Before travelling, visitors should confirm their individual eligibility, documentation, insurance and permitted stay directly with the UAE authorities because visa rules and requirements can change.
