Da Nang Vietnam is stepping into a new phase of tourism growth in 2026 with the launch of direct charter flights from Russia, marking a strategic expansion of air connectivity that allows more visitors from Vladivostok and other cities in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) to travel directly to central Vietnam’s coastal city. The flight services from Russia and CIS markets are scheduled to operate from April through October 2026, bringing a growing number of international travellers who plan multi‑night stays to explore Da Nang’s beaches, cultural landmarks, and natural attractions.

Enhanced Air Connectivity Between Russia and Da Nang

Da Nang International Airport has resumed and expanded international service with charter flights from major cities in Russia and CIS countries. The first direct charter flight from Vladivostok — operated by VietJet Air and Anex Vietnam Trading and Tourism Co. — landed at 2:05 pm carrying 220 passengers, marking the official start of summer 2026 operations for the Russian travel market.
Flights from Astana (Kazakhstan) also form part of this connectivity programme, with routes operating several times per week throughout April and May, and increasing frequency into the peak travel season. Services are planned from cities across CIS markets, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and additional Russian cities, reflecting coordinated efforts to diversify Da Nang’s international visitor base.

This expansion of direct flights supports key tourism planning by linking Da Nang’s coastal location directly with northern Eurasian markets, reducing travel times and simplifying travel logistics for visitors who might otherwise require multiple connecting flights through transit hubs. The capacity increase during peak months is expected to support up to 36 flights monthly, bringing around 4,800 passengers each month during April to October.

Visitor Arrivals and Accommodation Demand

With the resumption of direct charter services, Da Nang is preparing to receive a significant number of Russian and CIS travellers in 2026. The city’s tourism department reports that visitors from Russia and CIS typically stay between six and nine nights, with many booking three‑ to five‑star accommodation — creating strong demand for quality hotels and resort rooms along the central Vietnamese coast.
The combination of direct flights and longer average stays contributes to both increased occupancy and higher spend per visitor in hospitality, retail and local services. Seasonal increases in flight frequency — especially during peak summer — are expected to stimulate travel demand and encourage broader travel itineraries that include cultural, coastal and leisure experiences around Da Nang.

Tourism Growth Targets and Source Market Diversification

In early 2026, Da Nang recorded robust tourism figures, welcoming approximately 2.3 million international visitors in the first three months of the year. Among these arrivals, more than 100,000 were from Russia and other CIS markets, accounting for around 4.35 per cent of total foreign tourist numbers. Tourism authorities have identified Russia and CIS countries as high‑potential markets that can help balance visitor flows from traditional source regions and support double‑digit annual growth targets.

The city aims to achieve 30–40 per cent tourism growth this year compared with 2025, driven in part by the restored air connectivity and promotional outreach. Travel planners and tour operators are coordinating charter flights under partnerships with carriers such as VietJet Air, Crystal Bay and Anex Tour, projecting hundreds of flights over the season that collectively bring tens of thousands of visitors.

Travel Planning and Tour Options for Russian Visitors

For travellers planning trips from Russia and CIS regions, the direct flight services to Da Nang simplify travel logistics, allowing visitors to spend more time at their destination. These services are likely to appeal to those seeking beach holidays, cultural tours, food exploration and sightseeing across central Vietnam’s urban and natural attractions.

Once in Da Nang, visitors can explore the city’s famed sandy beaches such as My Khe and Non Nuoc, enjoy water sports and coastal activities, or plan excursions to nearby Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO‑listed heritage town celebrated for its traditional architecture, lantern‑lit streets and vibrant marketplaces. Day trips can also extend to Marble Mountains with its caves and pagodas, or further afield to Hue, known for its historic imperial citadel.

Travel advisors often recommend combining leisure time on the coast with cultural activities such as visits to Cham Sculpture Museum, local craft villages, and participation in seasonal festivals that showcase Vietnamese traditional arts and performance. Air connectivity improvements enhance multi‑destination travel within Vietnam, providing seamless transitions between coastal, cultural and nature‑focused itineraries.

Economic and Tourism Sector Implications

The launch of direct charter flights from Russia and CIS markets is expected to deliver broader economic benefits for Da Nang’s tourism ecosystem. Increased international arrivals support not only hotels and airlines but also local tour operators, restaurants, transport services and retail sectors, creating a multiplier effect on the local economy.
Hotels and resorts are adjusting capacity planning to match expected demand, particularly during peak months, while travel service providers are enhancing themed packages, cultural offering integrations and coastal excursions to appeal to international travellers interested in combining experiences during their stay.

These developments further position Da Nang as a dynamic gateway city in central Vietnam, balancing beach‑oriented holiday options with cultural and urban exploration opportunities that cater to varied visitor interests. The city’s tourism planning emphasises connectivity improvements, accommodation readiness and cultural engagement to encourage repeat visits and longer stays.

Visitor Experience Enhancements and Destination Appeal

As part of welcoming strategies, tourism stakeholders in Da Nang organise cultural welcome programmes, including traditional performances, presentations of local souvenirs, and informational exhibitions at the international terminal to create engaging first impressions for arriving travellers. These efforts underscore a broader focus on enhancing visitor experience from arrival to departure, ensuring that first‑time and repeat travellers alike find value in their holiday itineraries.

With direct air links restored and expanded, international visitors planning trips to Vietnam in 2026 have more reasons to include Da Nang in their travel plans — enjoying coastal charm, rich cultural heritage and improved accessibility that makes central Vietnam an attractive stop on Asia‑Pacific travel circuits.
