Kuala-Lumpur-Convention-Centre-300x218The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) brings her creative Culinaria brand, derived from Malaysia‘s cross-cultural cuisine heritage, to EIBTM this year, promising an exciting engagement no visitor will regret.

“Culinaria defines an enriching, multicultural, creative, progressive and value-added dining experience at the Centre,” explains Angeline Lue, the Centre’s Director of Sales & Marketing. “The concept opens up a myriad of possibilities in food & beverage (F&B) that go beyond standard convention centre fare and presentation with menus that meet a range of taste, events and dietary requirements.”

Be amongst the first to be surprised and visit Booth J60 where the Centre is giving away a ‘taste’ of Culinaria.

Lue said it was especially exciting to introduce Culinaria at EIBTM given Europe’s reputation as the centre of culinary excellence “where the trend of gastronomic adventure is picking up. “Add to this Malaysia’s reputation as a melting pot of multi-cultural cuisine in the region, and we are confident of further growing our Europe-based clientele at this global gathering of the meetings, incentives, conferences, events and business travel industry.”

According to Lue, the past year has seen the Centre continue to build on her reputation as Malaysia’s premier convention facility. “Among the large, high-profile events hosted at the Centre were the 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2013 which recorded its largest-ever attendance of 4,711 delegates from 123 countries and included dignitaries such as US Secretary of State, John Kerry and senior ministers from Southeast Asian countries; 3rd Women Deliver Global Conference 2013; 2013 International Dragon Award Annual Conference; and 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis Treatment and Prevention 2013 (IAS) with the latter two (events) attracting over 5,000 international delegates each.” These four events attracted a total of 20,000 delegates, contributing more than RM150 million (EUR35 million) in economic impact.

Expressing her appreciation to the Centre for a well-executed event, Professor Adeeba bte Kamarulzaman, the local co-chairperson of IAS thanked the Centre for helping make IAS 2013 a huge success. “All the delegates were so impressed with the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre – you truly have something of which to be extremely proud.”

And in the course of the year in review, the Centre added more awards to its impressive list of accolades. – the ‘Purpose Built Convention & Exhibition Centre Award For Excellence’ in the Business Events category at the Malaysian rAWr (Recognising Award Winning Results) Awards 2013 for her contribution to the growth and development of the country’s business tourism sector, and Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s Universal Access Award 2013 which acknowledges the Centre’s design and layout as being accessible to all. The Culinary team’s third ‘Most Outstanding Team in Culinary’ title since 2009 at the prestigious bi-annual Culinaire Malaysia 2013 is also a strong testament to her acclaimed culinary reputation. Last but not least, the Centre was awarded the inaugural ICCA Best PR Award for her PR and media efforts at the recent 52nd International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Congress 2013.

Between 1 January and 31 October 2013, the Centre hosted 1,281 events and served over 15 million delegates and visitors. To-date, it has hosted close to 8,000 events, generating RM4.8 billion (EUR1.1 billion) in economic impact to the country’s economy.

For 2014, the Centre already has a busy calendar with the likes of International Convention of Toastmasters International 2014, the first time in the organisation’s 88-year history its annual convention is being held off-shore; Million Dollar Round Table Experience 2014; Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) Annual National Convention 2014; 25th International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Congress 2014; 12th International Congress on Obesity 2014; and 14th Western Pacific Congress on Chemotherapy and Infectious Diseases 2014, among them.
