On the 28 June the CTICC celebrated its birthday. In just 11 years the centre has transformed the meetings and events landscape of Cape Town and contributed more than R 22 billion to the country’s Gross Domestic Product and over R 7 billion to the Western Cape economy.
“More importantly, the CTICC has succeeded in its mandate to create jobs, build businesses, enhance lives and, ultimately, transform people and communities”, says Acting Chief Executive Officer, Megan Arendse.
The success of the centre would not have been possible without the support of its loyal clients, many of whom have been with the CTICC since it first opened its doors in 2003. Some of Cape Town’s signature events, which were first hosted at the CTICC, include the Cape Homemakers Expo, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Decorex, Design Indaba, the Good Food and Wine Show and the Investing in African Mining Indaba. “It’s been an exciting journey partnering with these clients to grow their events. With the expansion on the cards we look forward to pushing the boundaries of innovation and excellence to take these events to new heights”, adds Arendse.
The CTICC would like to thank its stakeholders, clients, service partners and the people of Cape Town for the role they have played in contributing to the centre achieving its vision of positioning Cape Town and the CTICC as one of the world’s leading long haul meetings and events destination.
