Borger boasts a one-of-a-kind tourist attraction: an aluminium dome that was recently remodelled to become a meeting centre.
The facility was created in 1957 and has long been a part of the local culture. It is the oldest surviving dome of its type.
“It’s called a Kaiser aluminium dome, and we are actually the oldest remaining Kaiser aluminium dome in the country,” explained Nicole Chavez, Main Street project coordinator.
Meetings, special events, and even concerts are held in the centre, which draws people from all around the region.
“I would say this is one of the most important tourist attractions.” It brings everyone from the region, because we’re centrally located in the region, so we’re a great meeting place for all the region’s resources, and it’s just a great gathering place for the community to celebrate those special moments in your life like weddings, birthday parties, and even funerals,” Chavez explained.
