ccd-3-300x114The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has announced it has been chosen to host the Renaissance Society of America (RSA)Annual Meeting in 2021. Organisers successfully bid against Madrid to bring the three-day conference to Dublin, which is expected to attract up to 3,500 delegates.

Joseph Connors, President of the RSA commented, “The Renaissance Society of America has made an inspired choice for our European conference to be held in Dublin in 2021. The subject of Dublin and the Irish abroad during the Renaissance is very much a burgeoning and exciting focus of early-modern scholarship now. Many of the 3,000-3,500 delegates who will be coming have never been to Ireland before, and will take advantage of the conference to visit sites in Dublin and beyond. The famed warmth and hospitality of the Irish people contributed much to the decision to locate the conference there, as have the well-organised conference facilities at The CCD and the generous support of Fáilte Ireland”.

The CCD also recently secured four additional conferences for Dublin: FENS 2019; ECSS 2018; HUPO 2017; and the Hadoop Summit 2016. The five conferences combined will attract around 12,500delegates to Dublin and are worth an estimated €16million to the Irish economy.

Nick Waight, CEO of The CCD commented, “This is another massive boost for The CCD and Dublin. We continue to work hard to secure international conferences for Ireland and a confirmation as far out as 2021 is a testament to our success. Once again, we would like to acknowledge our industry partners, Fáilte Ireland and Dublin Convention Bureau, who played a huge role in winning these events for Dublin”.
