According to data from Statistics Canada, Calgary International Airport saw stable air travel from the U.S. in March 2025, with a nearly identical number of travelers compared to the previous year. A total of 84,898 Canadian residents returned to Calgary by air following overnight trips to the U.S., marking a slight decrease of 1,775 from the 86,673 who made the same journey in 2024. This suggests consistent demand for air travel between the U.S. and Calgary, despite a minor dip.

However, land border crossings have experienced a downward trend. While January 2025 saw a modest increase in land crossings compared to the previous year, February recorded a sharp decline, with only 18,704 Canadians returning from the U.S. by vehicle, down from 23,204 in 2024. March also showed a decrease, with 27,981 Canadians crossing by land, compared to 32,208 in the same month in 2024.

In contrast, air arrivals from the U.S. to Calgary showed an upward trend in March 2025, with 33,038 U.S. residents flying into the city, marking an increase from 30,832 during the same period in 2024. This indicates a sustained interest in Calgary as a destination for U.S. visitors.

Looking ahead to the summer of 2025, bookings from the U.S. are projected to decline, according to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium. Despite this, U.S. destinations like Arizona are actively working to attract Canadian tourists. In 2023, 822,500 Canadians visited Arizona, contributing an estimated USD $775 million to the local economy. This highlights ongoing efforts to maintain Canadian tourism in the U.S. amid shifting travel trends
