The Brisbane Convention Bureau has appointed new Business Development Managers to reach out to business event planners thinking of staging an event in Brisbane.Kylie McKenzie and Gary Pearce have taken on the roles as part of the Convention Bureau’s strategy to ensure business event planners fully realise Brisbane’s potential in staging world-class events with panache and style.
Many in the industry will know Kylie through her long-standing work in the Convention Bureau as a Research Executive. Kylie has a strong background in service suppliers, venues and hotels, including Caxton St Catering and Central Apartments and Hotels.
Gary comes to the Convention Bureau with an extensive hotel sales background over the past 15 years working in both Australian and international hotels and resorts, most recently with NEXT Hotel.
The Convention Bureau’s Juliet Alabaster – a long-standing member of the team with extensive experience in tourism and business events – has been appointed Senior Manager Business Development and Bidding.
The team will be ably assisted by Jill Wimberley as new Senior Coordinator, Business Development & Bidding. Jill previously held an important role in the Bureau’s Convention Services division.Rob Nelson, Brisbane Marketing General Manager Conventions and Business Events, welcomed the new appointments.
“Our focus has been to put a structure and team in place to drive business events growth for the city and for the benefit our Brisbane Marketing members,” Mr Nelson said.“We want business event planners to receive the best hands-on service when thinking about staging the perfect event in Brisbane.”
