Chaoyang District in Beijing Now a Blooming Wonderland as Year-Round Garden Festival Kicks Off
Beijing’s Chaoyang District has blossomed into a stunning mosaic of color, where flower-filled streets and park trails create an immersive floral experience. This breathtaking transformation comes with the debut of the Chaoyang Garden Festival—an ambitious new effort by local authorities to blend urban innovation with nature-inspired living through the introduction of a Garden City Demonstration Zone.
The festival, set to run throughout the year, features a rotating calendar of floral displays and themed events across some of the district’s most beloved green spaces. Visitors can wander through the sweeping “Field of Flowers” at the Olympic Green, admire the vivid tulips in Chaoyang Park, stroll under blossoming crabapple trees along the Yuan Dynasty City Wall Relics Park, or unwind among the peaceful lotus ponds of Honglingjin Park. Each site offers more than just a feast for the eyes—it’s a heartfelt invitation to slow down, connect with nature, and rediscover serenity in the heart of the city.
Chaoyang’s Blooming Vision Unfolds with “Beautiful Chaoyang: A Garden City” Festival and a Flourish of Global Green Living
Under the inspiring theme “Beautiful Chaoyang: A Garden City,” the district has unveiled its 2025 festival identity with the symbolic branding of “Yi Lu Xiang Yang,” meaning “Growing Toward the Sun.” The festival’s emblem—a vibrant bloom shaped from the Chinese character 花 (hua)—symbolizes Chaoyang’s ongoing transformation into a greener, brighter urban landscape guided by sunlight and sustainability.
This transformation reaches far beyond beauty—it’s a deep-rooted change in infrastructure. By the end of 2024, Chaoyang had ushered in a new era of eco-urban living by launching 68 open-access parks, renovating 12 inclusive recreational spaces, and laying down 310 kilometers of continuous green corridors. With 2025 underway, the district is pressing ahead with even more ambitious goals, including enhanced floral themes for individual parks, the expansion of landscaped zones, and additional greenways that allow residents of all ages to engage with nature daily.
Spanning 470.8 square kilometers, Chaoyang stands not only as Beijing’s largest and most populous district but also as its foremost international hub. It houses the majority of foreign embassies, nearly all international media bureaus, most global organizations, and the headquarters of 70% of multinational corporations operating in Beijing. With over half of the city’s international conferences held within its borders, Chaoyang plays a central role as a cultural and diplomatic gateway between China and the rest of the world.
As 2025 blossoms, Chaoyang invites both local residents and international travelers to immerse themselves in a district where nature, innovation, and global connection converge. From strolling down tulip-lined boulevards to enjoying moments of reflection beside serene lotus ponds, visitors are welcomed into a living celebration—a vibrant garden city reimagined for the future.
