Argentina Opens New Tourism Horizons With Global Investment, Aviation and Hospitality Opportunities

Argentina

Argentina and the UAE are expanding tourism cooperation through investment discussions, hospitality development, aviation links and cultural experiences, creating new opportunities for travellers between South America and the Middle East. The latest discussions took place in Buenos Aires during the 30th International Tourism Fair, FIT 2026, where officials examined ways to increase visitor flows, develop tourism products and encourage private-sector participation. With Argentine visitors to the UAE increasing in 2025, the partnership is also placing attention on destination promotion, hotel projects and travel experiences across both markets.

Argentine Visitor Numbers Give the Partnership Momentum

The UAE recorded 41,476 Argentine visitors in 2025, a 55.7 per cent increase compared with 2024, according to figures shared by the UAE’s Ministry of Economy and Tourism. The increase provides a measurable indicator of travel demand between the two countries, while officials are discussing ways to attract more Emirati visitors to Argentina.

Emirates News Agency The tourism agenda was discussed by UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and Argentina’s Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports, Daniel Scioli. Their meeting covered sports and cultural tourism, destination development, tourism products and experiences, and possible joint events intended to encourage travel between the countries.

Emirates News Agency For travellers, the cooperation could place greater attention on Argentina’s cities, wine regions, natural landscapes and cultural calendar in the UAE market, while Argentina’s travel industry can promote Dubai and Abu Dhabi as destinations for shopping, entertainment, architecture and international events.

Buenos Aires Leads Argentina’s International Visitor Experience

Buenos Aires remains a central entry point for international visitors exploring Argentina. The capital combines historic neighbourhoods, museums, theatre, food markets and cultural venues, giving visitors a city itinerary before travelling onwards to other regions. Recoleta and its cemetery, San Telmo’s historic streets, La Boca’s colourful buildings and Palermo’s restaurants and parks are among the city’s familiar visitor areas. International travellers can also explore tango performances, Argentine cuisine and football-related experiences, depending on schedules and availability. FIT 2026, held in Buenos Aires from 26 to 29 September, provided a platform for tourism businesses and officials to discuss destination promotion and investment. The UAE delegation’s participation connected tourism cooperation with a wider programme of business meetings.

Investment Discussions Include Hotels and Tourism Infrastructure

Argentina’s tourism authorities have identified accommodation capacity, visitor services, gastronomy and entertainment facilities as areas requiring investment. At a business meeting involving Argentine and UAE representatives, proposed projects included hotels, resorts, accommodation and tourism centres in Buenos Aires, Chubut, Mendoza, Salta and San Juan.

Mendoza is associated with wine tourism and the Andes, while Salta provides access to north-western landscapes, historic architecture and regional culture. Chubut is known for Patagonia’s Atlantic coast and wildlife tourism, including the Península Valdés area. San Juan offers mountain scenery, wine routes and access to natural attractions. Investment in accommodation and visitor services could affect how travellers plan stays across these destinations, particularly where longer distances make overnight accommodation and organised transport important. The discussions remain focused on identifying opportunities rather than confirming completed projects.

Aviation and Travel Connections Remain Important

Argentina and the UAE are geographically distant, making airline connectivity a practical consideration for tourism growth. Travellers commonly plan journeys through international connecting hubs, with flight schedules, transit requirements and total journey time varying by airline and departure city. The two countries have an air services agreement in place, while recent bilateral discussions have included broader economic and tourism cooperation. No new direct passenger route was confirmed in the September tourism announcements. Travellers should therefore check current airline schedules and connections before booking.

+1 For visitors travelling from Argentina to the UAE, Dubai and Abu Dhabi can serve as bases for urban attractions, desert excursions, museums, waterfront districts and major events. Travellers from the UAE heading to Argentina can use Buenos Aires as a starting point before connecting to domestic flights or long-distance road journeys.

Culture and Sports Tourism Form Part of the Agenda

Sports and cultural tourism featured in the discussions, alongside the exchange of experience in organising events and developing destination offerings. Argentina’s football heritage, tango, food culture and major sporting events provide themes for destination marketing, while the UAE has developed visitor experiences around international sporting events, cultural institutions and large-scale entertainment. For travellers, event-led trips require advance planning around ticket availability, accommodation demand and transport. Buenos Aires offers cultural venues and football experiences, while Mendoza and other provinces provide opportunities to combine regional travel with food and wine itineraries.

Business Cooperation Extends Beyond Tourism

The tourism meetings took place alongside wider economic discussions involving officials from both countries. Argentina and the UAE announced the start of negotiations towards a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, with tourism, infrastructure, real estate and urban development among the sectors identified for cooperation.

The UAE also reported that active Argentine commercial companies in its market rose 21.1 per cent to nearly 750 by the end of March 2026, compared with the same period a year earlier. The figure reflects expanding business presence, although it does not represent tourism investment alone.

What Travellers Should Know Before Booking

Visitors planning travel between Argentina and the UAE should check passport and visa requirements, transit rules, seasonal conditions and airline schedules before confirming itineraries. Argentina’s distances can make domestic flights useful for reaching Patagonia, Mendoza or the north-west, while UAE visitors can organise city stays and excursions around Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The latest cooperation agenda places tourism promotion alongside investment in hotels, visitor services, cultural programming and destination development. For Argentina, the discussions include projects across several provinces; for the UAE, the focus includes attracting more visitors and strengthening tourism business links.
