This exciting development is being led by Archer Aviation in collaboration with Falcon Aviation, in line with the UAE’s national efforts to fast-track advanced air mobility solutions. It forms part of a larger infrastructure expansion aimed at supporting the launch of commercial air taxi services, with initial operations set to begin in partnership with Abu Dhabi Aviation.
The GCAA is also introducing a regulatory framework tailored to hybrid facilities, making the UAE the first country to establish formal operational standards for facilities serving both helicopters and eVTOL aircraft. These regulations are currently under review and are expected to be finalized by July 2025.
The heliport’s redesign will feature upgraded landing pads, charging stations, and state-of-the-art safety systems designed specifically for electric aircraft. Rather than constructing a new vertiport, this project makes use of the existing aviation infrastructure, enabling a faster deployment while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Strategically located within one of Abu Dhabi’s busiest tourism hubs, the cruise terminal serves as a gateway to the city for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Its proximity to key landmarks like the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Saadiyat Cultural District, and the Corniche makes it an ideal site for integrating aerial mobility into the broader transport and tourism network.
Air Synapsis, a Dubai-based firm specializing in vertiport development, is overseeing the layout and airspace design to ensure the heliport will support advanced air mobility operations within urban environments.
This project marks a major milestone in the UAE’s vision for sustainable and interconnected mobility infrastructure.
